FAQs

  • More often than not, you’ll find the bass TAB in the second half of the book in its own appendix.

  • No! It all depends what your needs are as a bass player and a musician. Don’t forget that each of Janek’s books started life as a solution to a problem. When enough problems occur, the solutions become vast enough to warrant publishing a book on the subject.

  • In a very few cases, it wasn’t applicable to include play alongs with the book. The Bass Player’s Warm-Up for instance doesn’t require lush chords and drum grooves to be effective.

  • The answer is kind of in the title of the book. It’s a book about sight reading standard notation. In fact, it’s more about reading and comprehension of standard notation that it is “sight reading”. Sight reading is a skill that comes as a byproduct of doing the work on basic reading skills. You will simply never be asked to read TAB in any musical situation as a bass player, and for that reason we didn’t include it.
