Musicians Nutrition
Having been in town and off the road a little bit in the past few weeks, I’ve been hanging with my good friend Thai Long Ly. Not only is Thai a great bass player, one of the major forces in music engineering in Los Angeles, and an all round nice guy, he’s also in shape. That’s right, he’s a musician that actually cares what he eats, and how it effects his health and well-being.
When I get back from Europe in a month or so i’m going to start one of his programs (the insanity 60 day workout), and really try to change the make-up of my body for the better. And in preparation for that I’ve started to change my diet in a big way, and I can’t recommend the results enough! And it’s neither expensive nor difficult to do. You just have to commit to it and do it. Just like anything you want to implement in your life, be it practicing, a business move, a new composition… I’m treating my nutrition with the same amount of respect and precision. You of course have to exercise every day, I think that’s just common sense. And I’ve heard and seen how difficult the insanity program is, so I’m using this time before I start the program to get in shape to where I’m not puking after every set!
I’m by no means an expert at any of this, a complete novice in fact. And if you really want to check out how to improve your health THAI’S SITE would be the place to start. But the results of cutting out almost all carbs, going hi protein, and generally burning fat with every exercise I do has given incredible results in just three days of being on this regime. I’m more focused with my music, with my business, and with life in general. And I love the concept of only grocery shopping for three days at a time max. Whenever I’m in Europe I’m always reminded of how important fresh ingredients are by the average size of refrigerators there. There’s none of this sub-zero nonsense with frozen foods, and tons of leftovers. Just a healthy turn over of fresh food with very little waste at all.
As you probably know from this blog by now, I’m always into sharing whatever’s currently working for me in my life, and this feels like a huge step in a positive direction. Check out today’s lunch and a few other things below, freaking simple, quick, cheap, AND tasty!
Check out thai’s site, and find something that works for you health wise. I think every aspect of your life will gain from a healthier eating and exercise pattern, and I know your music will be enhanced beyond belief. Definitely want to hear your feedback on this one, and see where everyone’s at with this subject, so leave some comments below!
